100321 ep. 10 w/ Fabian

Back to back tracks from Fabian and myself, surprising each other as we rolled along. Started off chilled then broke the beats and synthesized inner space. Featuring tunes by Imperial College alumnus Tom Jenkinson aka Squarepusher and current final year student Ruskin Constant aka Shayken, shattering any preconceptions of our student body as dead-end scientists and bankers. 100314 ep. 9 rocking this joint in an old school way

For this episode I was joined by Afonso Almeida (also known as Fonzy; not to be confused with The Fonz) who studies violin at Trinity College of Music here in London. We kicked it old school with a fine selection of contemporary classical music from the late 19th and 20th century. Including a movement from Bartók's banned ballet The Miraculous Mandarin and a special edit of Stravinsky's Rites of Spring, culled from 146 cuts from a dozen different recordings of the original piece. A statement in minimalism protesting against the overdose of remixes and 'edits' (dub edit, jungle edit...) flooding current electronic music. Some challenging pieces and some aural manifestations of beauty, all intoxicating.

100307 ep. 8 riding the electron wave

Like ep. 2, ep. 8 takes us on a trip through electron clouds and cerebral currents, letting the sound separate us from the vapid everyday. Playback only recorded the first hour but things kept rolling until after midnight with some serious minimal techno following the sublime Kassem Mosse tune from his last Workshop contribution and somehow followed by Messiaen's "Catalogue d'Oiseaux" and ending in a free-for-all jazz frenzy. Don't ask, it just happened!
